Barley is my first ever dog. He came into my life as a 10-week-old rehome: an enthusiastic, energetic kelpie mix who just wanted to play, run and work. We started at a local club, dabbling in obedience, before finding some incredible agility training teachers in SEQ and we were hooked. At five, Barley was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy and began anti-seizure medication, meaning agility took a back seat for close to a year. After returning, injuries slowed us again, so Barley found joy in scent work. It was love at first sight for him. In 2025, Barley retired from agility and continues to thrive in scent with well-managed seizures.
